25. Fifty - fifty
I am not a puzzle to be solved,
Nor a clay to the mould,
Perhaps all it involves
Is to love and to grow old.
I am not a book to be read,
Nor a bride to be wed,
I am me, a butterfly,
A song on your lips,
A petal of rose, bright and red.
I am not a bridge to be crossed
Nor a faith to believe in,
I am me, glad and beautiful,
And in my eyes is a fire,
Golden and keen.
I have no shelter to give you,
Nor a harbour by the sea,
But if you were not you…
Then certainly, o’ love,
I would not be me.
I am not a puzzle to be solved,
Nor a clay to the mould,
Perhaps all it involves
Is to love and to grow old.
I am not a book to be read,
Nor a bride to be wed,
I am me, a butterfly,
A song on your lips,
A petal of rose, bright and red.
I am not a bridge to be crossed
Nor a faith to believe in,
I am me, glad and beautiful,
And in my eyes is a fire,
Golden and keen.
I have no shelter to give you,
Nor a harbour by the sea,
But if you were not you…
Then certainly, o’ love,
I would not be me.
If all goes to plan, your sinner will be leaving early tomorrow morning for Sibu, in the island of Borneo. It is a 2 day trip (work) and I may not be able to write as often as I normally do. It is my first time to Sibu, having only been to the state capital, Kuching. Hopefully, I will be clocking-in later tomorrow evening (internet connection permitting!)
The prose above was written some two years back, when someone entered into my life and unwittingly turned it up side down. The collateral benefit is that it gave birth to an awful lot of prose, some written here, while others verbal and real.
We have no idea how love will change us. But if we are lucky, and the stars and moons are all in their right alignments, love will reveal the better us. The true 'us' that God has always wanted us to discover. The journey is not all rosy. But without embarking in the journey, we shall never understand the true nature and secrets that roses jealously hide in their thorns and petals.
God bless you, sunshine.

bon voyage!
ReplyDeletewe shall await your return ... and look forward to your travel posts if you are able to find an internet connection.
Thank you for the above poem, which offers essence and being in their purest forms, which gives example by denying example-- thereby unifying love in its purest form. The poem was like a rose blossoming in me.
ReplyDeleteDear Anon,
ReplyDeleteWell, I managed to post 3 so far, but you may notice that the 2nd posting was not my normal style of writing. Frankly, I was just exhausted. My training of office work and sitting at my table for hours on end did not prepare me for the estate visit. But I hope you enjoyed them anyway.

Dear Salvatore,
ReplyDeleteYour comment itself is poetry. And much more importantly, it is not untrue.
God bless!
