The Talkative Tasbih and the Scoundrel - Pictures tell stories

The Tasbih (rosary/prayer beads) dangling on the rear view mirror spoke to me this evening, as I was waiting for the traffic light to turn green... I was on my way home from work.

Tasbih: Psst. Hey. Psst.
Me: Yes. What do you want?
Tasbih: Hey, bruddeeeer... Take my picture.
Me: It's gonna turn green any moment now.
Tasbih: Nonsense. You know you have a couple of minutes.
Me: No, I don't know that.
Tasbih: Yes, you do.
Me: Okay, okay.

So I took a picture. A couple in fact. The ones posted here are the prettiest (to me at least).

Me: Are you pleased now?
Tasbih: Is the sky blue? Yes, thank you very much.
Me: You know what's your problem, right?
Tasbih: I have a problem?
Me: Yes. You think that just because you are a 200-beaded tasbih, you can be demanding.
Tasbih: That's not true.
Me: Yeah... you have a superiority complex. Do you know that when I was in Mecca last year I saw a 1,000 beaded tasbih. In bright green!
Tasbih: It's green because it's plastic. It's not natural. I am all wood.
Me: He he he. Yes... I have always thought you to be a bit wooden.
Tasbih: He He He. And you are a scoundrel. He he he...

So all's well that end's well. I have a couple of tasbihs and try to do my rounds with all of them. But I guess this particular tasbih is special to me, because it was given by a friend. I am not a big rosary-counter. I am not one of those disciplined ones who try to get through thousands a day. Maybe one day. But for today at least, this is how things are between me and my tasbihs. What about you?

May you have a lovely day, sunshine, both you and your tasbih / rosary / prayer beads.

  1. there is only 1 really special tasbih for me and that's a common 100 wood tasbih given by my Sheikh when i took baiah.

i carry it even through my worst of sins... it serves as a breadcrumb so i dont forget my way back.
