A Leaf and a Muse in the Divine Presence

An old soul appeared with the calm morning air. Next door I could hear a Sikh priest reciting some verse of their holy scriptures. The old soul listened with me to the strange haunting recitation, then he proceeded to teach me a prayer...

How Can I Do This Without You?
O' Lord,
Help me break my habits
That is breaking me,
For I cannot do this
Without You,
O' Lord,
Make what is bad for me
Unpleasant to my senses,
Make what is good for me
Pleasant to my senses,
For I cannot do this
Without You,
O' Lord,
I am asking You
As a man with his shoulders bowed
And his back bent by the weight
Of this world and its trials,
And I cannot lift myself up
Without You,
..................

Nice, I think. Of course the old soul is actually me. And sometimes yes, it is true... The world does appear to be foreboding with its trickery and illusion to distract you in your efforts to better yourself and turn a new leaf.

That is why we all need a muse. Someone who shall always inspire us to better ourselves, to pick ourselves up however many times we fall, someone who does not question our ability to change and who sees us with a light of love that comes from some other place where hurt, pain, regret and failure has no presence - in the Divine Presence of the Lord and His Prophet, peace be upon him.

I have found such muse in many people... I think we all have.

Have a lovely monday, sunshine. May God bless you always.
