THE BANNER OF LIGHT VS THE EVIL KNOT

Unravelling That Evil Knot

You need a little knowledge
To know you own none of your own,

You need a little good manners
To know that good manners
Is the natural order of things,

You need a little love in your heart
To find true love in the form
Of God Almighty and
His Muhammad,

So while you are finding solace in these little things,
While walking, prostrating,
Or upon your knees bended,
Do not act as if
Your search has
 All but ended,

For you are in the path of eternity,
That unfathomable and unending
Journey through God to you,
And through you to God,

Slowly unraveling the schemes
Of your ego, the enemy and
 The evil knot.
.....................

When the prose was concluded, I recalled, "Saay... where did I read about 'the knot'?" Then of course, I remembered.
Say:"I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak,
"From the evil of what He has created;
"And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness;
"And from the evil of the witchcrafts when they blow in the knots,
And from the evil of the envier when he envies."
(Al Quran 113, Muhsin Khan translation)

Darkness of the night, witchcrafts, evil knots and enviers. Jeepers. Not exactly the sort of light-n-easy love lorn stuff that we record here. But darkness, the blackness of our world 'exists' only in the absence of light. So seek refuge with our God, Lord of the daybreak, and see your worries and pain, your most secret despairs run skulking from the sunrise of Allah (swt) upon the forest of our (often) needless confusion.

Insya Allah (Godwilling), there is no place where the shadow can hide!

....Light is coming!
The banner of Muhammad Habibullah is made of light!
Light upon Light!

THUS MY PROSE COLLAPSES INTO RUINOUS WORDS...

The Worlds
The Straight Path is a path
In both this world and the world hereafter,
And it is also the bridge
From this world to the world hereafter.
............................

I am told that the siratulmustaqim (the straight path) is so thin, you cannot even see it with your naked eye. But you can sense it with your conscience. So I try not to ignore my conscience, lest I become blind(er). Pray for me, sunshine!

The Worlds
This world is known as the natural world,
And the world of the Prophets and Angels
May be known as the supernatural world,
And the world of the Devils and the Djinns
May be known as the subnatural world...

Lo, the regret for those
Who think that the world of the Devils and the Djinns
Is equal to or greater than this natural world!
Lo, greater the shame and loss for those
Who think that the world of the Devils and the Djinns
Is even comparable to the world of the Prophets and the Angels!
.............................

There is but one God. And His vision over His countless worlds and creatures is perfect and manifest. May we always be reminded of this, wherever providence may bring us temporarily, on our way towards the only place worth chasing... the Divine Presence of Allah (swt) and His Most Beloved, Muhammad Habibullah (saws). Pray for me, sunshine!

The Utterly Incomparable
... And nothing created is comparable to Him,
The incomparable One, absolute in His Uniqueness,
Utterly Alone in His Praiseworthiness,
Inexplicably Different in His Difference to His Creation,
Unimaginably Breathtaking in His Beauty,
Completely Absolute beyond any created understanding
Of completeness and absoluteness...

Thus my prose collapses into ruinous words,
Turning songs and poems
Into sighs and moans for the Unknowable
Who desires to be known!
......................

Someone said to me, "Lo! How long have you been lost? Desiring something other than His desire? Desiring something other than Him?" Yes, that is me alright. So you, see. It is only natural that I ask for your prayers, sunshine.

Have a lovely Sabbath.

5 PROSE TO MUHAMMAD, SAYYIDINA SA'DULLAH (S.A.W.S), THE JOY OF ALLAH! - The Ramadan Story, Part 20

1. Despair
Tell despair that I shan't drink the wine from its cellar,
For I am happy with what God has bestowed,
............

Because we only despair when we are dissatisfied. So be happy!

2. Doubt
Tell the troll of doubt that it shan't grab me from under its bridge,
For my God has given me wings to fly high in the sky,
............

Because you need a pair of them, the wing of ilm (knowledge) and the wing of adab (good manners) to fly. And as a bonus, an ancient friend just shared with me that a lot of salawat (greetings of peace and invocations of praise for Muhammad s.a.w.s.) will bring a nice breeze to help you in your flight to Hu knows where! Rejoice!

3. Hubris
Tell the minions of hubris that they will not confound me again,
For I have seen the errors of my ways, in the past,
In the present
And in the future,
............'

Because hubris comes from certainty. And awareness of our mistakes reminds us that certainty is only with God, not us. Be a mureed (follower/student) always!

4. Usury
Tell the warlocks of usury in their towers of greed
That I see through their deceit,
For my God has forbidden to us usury,
............

Because one of the worse apparent blackmagic is the sorcery of usury. And God Almighty and His Prophet (s.a.w.s.) has declared war on usury. Join the winning team!

5. Deceit
Tell the spin-witches of public relations that I will not be distracted,
For there is no brand, no name, no glamour I desire more
Than the presence of God and His pleasure!
............

Because Allah (s.w.t.) is utterly wonderful beyond words, and His Pleasure is none other than the Prophet Muhammad, Sayyidina Sa'dullah (The Joy of Allah). So be joyful with the most joyful of all mankind! The most joyful of all Creation!

May you have a wonderful (and divinely joyous) last day of Ramadan the Blessed, sunshine.

This read, is a Joyful Book.

Mr. Ikhlas, Black Magic and The Divine Shyness in the Presence of Villainy

We are talking about magic and villainy today. But don't worry, pet.
We have our own spells of Light and White Magic. It is called
the art of being good to all creatures.
Mr. Ikhlas is a little disturbed today
This morning an ancient soul (Mr. Ikhlas - I wrote about him earlier, a pensioner of about mid-60s) dropped by to join me for breakfast. I was waiting for him and he was looking for me, and we found each other today. It is no miracle but merely applied statistics and based on the regular habits of (old) men. If we like a place, we tend to stick to it. And yes, I think I am old at 42.

Anyways, while we were chatting an old acquaintance of his suddenly dropped by to say hi. The man shook Mr.Ikhlas's hand and after a very brief exchange of pleasantries he left us alone. The man did not strike me to be a close friend of Mr. Ikhlas because there was a distinct absence of friendly bonhomie. And Mr. Ikhlas was always the soul of any party.

My companion turned to me and said in a serious tone, "He is not a pleasant man." I think he felt that he needed to explain to me the rather curt interview earlier. "He used black magic to break our mutual friend's marriage." Mr. Ikhlas then concluded, "If we were alone, just me and him, I think I would have stood up and punched him." But he said it as a-matter-of-fact and I sensed no malice or anger. I think my old friend just felt that the karmic balance of the cosmos would be benefited by a left-upper hook into that man's jaw. Hehehe.

This was the first time I have found Mr. Ikhlas to be a little disturbed. It is apparent from the stories that he has shared with me that his life has been always interesting, full of the ups and downs, roundabouts and dead-ends. But he always appeared to have taken everything in his happy stride - a humble, contented God-fearing man of the old-school. In other words, a true gentleman. You don't get many of those around nowadays.
..................................................

God and being shy in the presence of villainy
How do we deal with 'bad' people? People who have intentionally hurt you or anyone else with malice aforethought or at the spur of unbridled emotion. Mr.Ikhlas hates 'knowing' any bad information about anyone. "It is a bloody burden!" He passionately said. "Sometimes, I ask God - Oh God, why did you lift the veil and let me see a person's bad action or character? Because, honestly, it simply makes me feel shy towards him..." I asked Mr. Ikhlas what he meant by that...

"When I inadvertently find out anything bad about anyone, I do not feel righteous or morally superior. I do not feel I am somehow 'better' than him. None of those ego-assuring emotion pass through me. The overwhelming feeling is that of shyness. Shyness towards the man who has wronged others or himself. I don't like to even talk about it."

And that in a nutshell, is our greatest fear of all. Not just in our relationship with people, but most importantly, with God Himself. Have I been so bad a sinner and a fool, that God does not want to gaze at me anymore? That He cannot bear to be embarrassed, much too delicate and shy to observe me at my worst and most dastardly? Does He not look unto me anymore?

Mr. Ikhlas answered, "He cannot tear away from looking at us, because we are His beloved creation. Nothing that He has created, not the fishes in the sea, nor the birds in the sky or two old chattering fools sitting in a coffeeshop, that He does not love with the Heavenly Love that is uniquely His own. If He turns away in shyness from the world for its rampant villainy, all the world would dissipate into a black chasm of nothingness. So our very existence is evidence that God is always watching us and more importantly, watching OVER us."

"But we are not safe." He continued, "Not because of God's limitation of Love and Mercy, but by our own limits in comprehending His Infinite and Incomprehensible Love and Compassion for His creatures. We often set limits on our feelings of love and mercy, a pre-condition not suffered by God Almighty." Then Mr. Ikhlas grinned like the Cheshire Cat and winked at me.

He is right of course. If we feel shy towards the rule-breakers, imagine how God feels towards us? God whose knowledge encompasses the very smallest sub-atomic particle that makes up the form of a man or a woman? Right now I just feel like I wanna run up to God and embrace Him, assuring him with words of love -

Love and Self-Betrayal
Oh Love, I have betrayed myself and you saw me in my shameful state!
I am sorry, please do not be shy of me... I promise to do better
If You would but wait...

I would say these things, knowing that I shall always be a sinner. But I hope one day to be a good sinner, presentable enough to be brought before the royal court of God, the Most Loving King. And I hope not to make God wait too long.

Hullo...! Hullo o' Lord! I hope I have not kept Thee waiting too long!

MasyaAllah. What a beautiful evening this is, sunshine. Thank you for sitting with me.
