THE PILGRIMAGE

Over two weeks in  March 2011, I traveled as a pilgrim with my partner Ariffin and his merry band brothers and friends to Jerusalem, Medina and finally Mecca as part of our minor pilgrimage (Umrah). I kept a little journal and took pictures, and I was resolved that upon my return, I shall write about my travels and experiences. What I did not expect was for the writing to expand across thirty postings and over eight months.

I guess I wanted to extend as long as possible, my remembrance of each iota of laughter, tears and smiles, and the little trials I encountered during the pilgrimage. It was all about the friends I made, the poetry I wrote, the people I saw, the food I ate, the prayers I prayed, and the tombs of the Prophets and saints I visited. And of course, the travelogue was also about my effort to understand my own history, the Prophet and the Lord, that I might better love Him and praise Him.

This Page is dedicated to that physical and spiritual travel in 2011. It was then that I learn that life and religion is but one, and that the demarcation between our physical and spiritual life is man-made, illusory and transient. The only singular True and Absolute reality being God, our Maker and He who loves us most and best of all.

Just click on any of the postings below, sunshine. I hope you will enjoy my writings...
