TALKING GOD AND DOING GOOD - something worth talking about...

Let's Talk About Something Worth Our Time
O' Love, O' my Lord,
I am not persuaded,
Neither by distraction
Nor by passion,
Not by the possession
Of any knowledge,
That there is anything
Worth talking of,
Better than You,
And of Your
Prophet.

No political debates,
No scientific discourses,
No gossip about ghouls or djinns,
No tattletale stories about friends or kin,
No condemnation of people or nations
However persuasive or strong,
Nor any dissertation on right and wrong.

What is the ebb and tide of this world
When in your mind's eye is
The vision of the Luminous Pearl?

Oh Love! Oh Lord!
Oh the Beloved of Love!
........................

Three Ifs. If you are given the opportunity (and who has withheld this from you?), is there anything better to reflect upon than God Almighty and His Beloved Prophet (saws)?

If you are given friends (and certainly you have them!), what is more worthy of your time to discuss than the Divine Attributes of Allah (swt) and the Prophetic Attributes of Muhammad Habibulah (saws)?

If you are given a mind to think with and a heart to love with (and who hasn't?), is there any subject more compelling than the discourses upon your own place in the divine plan of God the Best Planner? And how everything that happens to you, must by its occurrence, necessarily bring you closer and closer to God the Most Compassionate and Most Merciful?

This is all good. But truth be told, you must be patient with people and their dialogues. And you must let people unburden their troubles on you, and if you are able to, you must help them. Help them with their financial problems, their relationship issues, their angst and complaints about people and society. At the very least we can give encouragement.

For even if you then cannot talk about Allah (swt) and Nabi Muhammad (saws), your ready ear, your consoling words and generous charity will be spoken of in a divine congregation more noble than any convened in this world.

For God Himself, and His Seal of the Prophets, Prophet Muhammad (saws) shall speak your name...

So speak of God and His Goodness whenever you can. And do good whenever God sends you the opportunity to lend aid to the weary. Do this so that God in His Goodness will mention you in a celestial company at the head of whom is His Own anointed Mercy to all the Worlds... our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saws).

Remember me. This is the easy formula for you, and insyaAllah, you will be raised higher and higher. But however lofty the station where you will be, do not forget me. This poor, poor sinner. Ask God to bring me, to you. For I cannot get anywhere without your prayers, nor will I ever be saved without the unimaginable mercy and compassion of Allah (swt).

I am the broken dervish, sunshine. And I am knocking on the door of your heart.

KNOWLEDGE, LOVE, FORTITUDE, WORDS & BREATH - The Ramadan Story, Part 13

Not Until I Have Returned
Knowledge, don't betray me,
Don't make me believe that I know,
Not when I am often confused,
Wondering if I should stay, loiter or go.

Love, don't deceive me,
Don't make passion to be my guide,
Not when the path to happiness is patience,
Patience to wait and to see what is wrong
And what is right.

Fortitude, don't forsake me,
Don't leave me when the going gets tough,
Don't leave me to my own vices,
So easily falling when the path gets rough.

Words, don't fail me now,
Don't leave me speechless when I need you most,
Not when there is still many prose to be written,
About God, about the Prophet,
About the Garden and the Rose.

Breath, don't leave me yet,
Not until I have said what needs to be said,
Not until I have written what needs to be written,
To complete my earthly travel,
Before finally crumbling in a state of prostration,
Crying out, ya Allah! ya Rasulullah...

I have returned!
...........................

When Heche gave me The Hobbit poster last night (see earlier posting, He Hu Never Lets Us Sinners Down...), I was so happy. And I said to her later over the phone, "You know, I not only like this present. I am impressed!"

Even  without seeing her face, I knew she would be smiling extra wide, with a sense of gratification. Gratification because she has always considered me a smart sort of fellow. Which is of course a mistake. For I don't think I am smart at all. For however much knowledge that I have been able to trawl from the ocean of knowledge, I still cannot answer this very simple question about Heche...

Why is she still with me?

After all, I am not rich, I am not good-looking. I am overweight and have serious health issues.  I can be grumpy, especially when I am fasting. And I can be impatient with boring conversation.

I think until the day that I wheeze out my final sonorous breath, I will still have this question troubling me.

Oh well, at least then I can get to ask God. He would be able to answer, no doubt. And indeed, while I have the opportunity, I might also bother Him with these burning queries...

Why do You care and love me so?
How are You able to overlook all my sins?
How can You still attend to me when I have often left You?
Who am I that You see that I myself do not see?

I guess what little Knowledge, Love, Fortitude, Words and Breaths I have left shall continue to sustain me until that day.

So until then, walk with me, sunshine. And forgive me my contratemps, such as they shall be.

Dave's Caravan of Dream

I have been following a Caravan of Dreams over the past couple of months. The blogger is Dave. And I shall have Dave himself say who and what he is...
.
I love people hands down. Everyone has a story to tell and I would like to hear them all. I really feel if you cannot connect with you fellow man than you are not worth your salt. It is with great humility that I approach each and every person. I feel that nothing is random and that each of our lives is wonderful evolving story. Each of us or rather each of our stories are part of a wonderful tapestry of creation. I am very simple person. I love helping others and service is what makes me happy. I would say that going out of my way to see people happy is a great fault a well as maybe hopefully a future means of attainment. So I blog to get my ideas out of my head, and also to share my journey with whoever reads this as a dervish. Living in one of the busiest cities on earth, one can still be lonely. So indulge me leave a message...
.
His website entitled (My)Caravan of Dreams(Click Here) is an oasis for the weary, full of wholesome goodness for any wanderer, and a gentle path with beautiful visions captured in words. Like most of his kind, he appears to be a Rumi fan (aren't you all). One of my most rewarding experiences in the cyberworld is to find lovers of humanity, and students of saints spreading a little angel dust and divine stars spread across the night sky of our soul... to share, to animate our lives and to remind us just how blessed we are, despite the most adept trickery of this world of forms. He will say that I am too fulsome in my praise. But you don't have to take my word for it. Find out for yourselves. His website is now in the blogroll of this website.
.
He writes a lot, so drop in on Dave and see where his caravan may take you...
.
Have a nice day, sunshine!

The Whirling Verse Part 1

I was once a verse, and I followed as...

The verses whirl
On their own accord,
Turning for the Pearl
And his Loving God.

.........................................................

This is part 1 of 3 of a sketchverse called 'The Whirling Verse' for the current and untitled chapter. I know its hard to read the words, but they are all there. Molecules whirl, atoms whirl, planets whirls, so why not verses?
