THE BANNER OF LIGHT VS THE EVIL KNOT

Unravelling That Evil Knot

You need a little knowledge
To know you own none of your own,

You need a little good manners
To know that good manners
Is the natural order of things,

You need a little love in your heart
To find true love in the form
Of God Almighty and
His Muhammad,

So while you are finding solace in these little things,
While walking, prostrating,
Or upon your knees bended,
Do not act as if
Your search has
 All but ended,

For you are in the path of eternity,
That unfathomable and unending
Journey through God to you,
And through you to God,

Slowly unraveling the schemes
Of your ego, the enemy and
 The evil knot.
.....................

When the prose was concluded, I recalled, "Saay... where did I read about 'the knot'?" Then of course, I remembered.
Say:"I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak,
"From the evil of what He has created;
"And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness;
"And from the evil of the witchcrafts when they blow in the knots,
And from the evil of the envier when he envies."
(Al Quran 113, Muhsin Khan translation)

Darkness of the night, witchcrafts, evil knots and enviers. Jeepers. Not exactly the sort of light-n-easy love lorn stuff that we record here. But darkness, the blackness of our world 'exists' only in the absence of light. So seek refuge with our God, Lord of the daybreak, and see your worries and pain, your most secret despairs run skulking from the sunrise of Allah (swt) upon the forest of our (often) needless confusion.

Insya Allah (Godwilling), there is no place where the shadow can hide!

....Light is coming!
The banner of Muhammad Habibullah is made of light!
Light upon Light!

True Love Illuminates Truly - love, avalanches, floods and the whirling dervishes

1.      Tenacious
Yea, I may be tenacious,
But it is easy tenacity when you
Are carried by a mighty flood
Roaring down the side
Of a high mountain!

..........................................

Love affects different people differently. For some, love is all about falling down the side of a hill or mountain like a flood or an avalanche. So you get bruised, beaten and broken. Then you climb that mountain again. For others, love can make them whirl. No bruises or broken bones here, just the drawing of light-threads through the blandness of the cosmos, as even your shadow illuminates the gloomiest corner of the human experience. For true love illuminates truly...

This is my first ever sketch with white ink on black paper. I hope you like it.

Have a lovely Sunday, sunshine.

Your Happiness Took Mine Away

I was sitting on my own, finishing up my morning writing in a busy food stall located just outside my neighbourhood mosque when unexpectedly a small family took the table in front of me. There were mom and dad (about my age, I reckon) and two daughters and one boy. The kids must be somewhere between 7 to 10 years of age. They were having their breakfast and laughing and joking around. They looked happy.

No matter how contented I was having breakfast by myself, their joyful presence stole away my contentment. And I don’t know really… will I ever get married again? Will I ever have a complete family again?

It is a feeling that was coursing through my veins at that moment. But the welling up of tears behind my dark brown eyes bear witness that it was more than a feeling.

TEARS
All tears
Are silent prayers
To a Lord All-Seeing
All-Knowing and
All Loving.

Yes, pet. I do want to be married again. And one day I shall take out Mr. and Mrs. Taufiq, with Mikhail and who-knows-who-else out for breakfast at this very same stall. We shall be laughing and joking around, eating the delicious murtabak in the crisp morning air. And perhaps just like this beautiful family in front of me, without realising it we too shall steal away someone’s contentment in his solitary breakfast.

Have a lovely day, sunshine. Regardless whether you are alone or in the bosom of a loving family…

LIGHT UPON LIGHT AND THE INCREDIBLE EQUATION

Who were you?
O’ Taufiq,
What were you?
Who were you?
How could you ever be
Anything or anyone,
Before in your life,
I came to be?

O’ Taufiq,
What delight did you feel?
What sorrow did you drown in,
Before you ever knew Me?

Whatever you were,
Whoever you were,
It matters not.

Not now,
Not when you are
Finally with Me.

Your life,
And your memory
Begins now, o’ Taufiq,

With Me.

LOVELY RAIN. I was driving home through the wet streets of my neighbourhood. Just a couple of yards ahead on the left is my house. I am very happy that it rained this evening. My room faces the evening sun, and for a couple of days it felt like a sauna. I have an air-conditioner but it’s broken. I haven’t replaced it because I procrastinate. Tomorrow, I will say. Or next week. Or perhaps next month. So each night I am at the mercy of nature.

THE AC IS DECEASED. As I was driving with my friend, Munim made an observation. For I was exclaiming, “Alhamdulillah, it is raining!” Then I said, “Well, Munim, my air-cond may be kaput, but if it was working fine I would probably not feel as happy as I am right now. In response Munim nodded sagely, saying, “Yea, dude. Sometimes not having something permits you the privilege of experiencing happiness in a way not open to others who have that something.” Hmm. Then I guess I should count myself lucky that my AC is deceased. But I wonder if I will feel as blessed the next time the late evening sun turns my bedroom into an electric grill. It is the hardest test, and the easiest lesson in the world… for often I have heard a Master say that…

The Incredible Equation
Being Nothing (you) Makes the Appreciation of the Only True Something (your Lord) possible.

LIGHT UPON LIGHT. I guess another key to happiness is learning to play with our expectations. And to remember that life, like love, must be taken ‘as is’. True Love, the high Lamp in the firmament of Divine Mercies will give this to you, I think. But do not read this as fatalism. The only thing that will perish when you drink your cup of love is fear and uncertainty. ..

A CUP OF LIGHT
Pick up the Cup of Love and
Take that sip of Light, sunshine.
Drink and let begin your life and memories,
The ‘Light Upon Light’…and
The Inexplicable Mercies.

Two new prose in less than 24 hours. This is a rare thing. And the only thing more wonderful is the fact that you are reading it. Now that is truly the Lord’s gift to me.

Have a wonderful day, luvvies.
